5 Star Reads of 2022 (so far)

Image
Well we've made it through six months of the year, and I thought now would be a good time to share my top reads of the year so far.  Below are my 5 star reads from the past six months.  Some are re-reads, some are new to me, all were amazing!  If you would like to follow along with my reading progress, don't be shy - let's connect on Goodreads ! 5 Star Reads: January - June 2022 1. The Hating Game by Sally Thorne I loved the interplay between the characters, and the office enemies-to-lovers was such a good setting.  Very well done with  lovable  characters, amazing details, and a twist that made my heart go pitter-patter! 2. The Brown Sisters trilogy by Talia Hibbert For the sake of saving space, I'll lump all three together, but make no mistake - each of these books was a five star read on  its  own.  I've re-read them all, and will do so again; they are among my all-time favorites.   The first book, Get a Life, Chloe Brown, feat...

Love Next Door by Helena Hunting

Thank  you to Social Butterfly PR for sending me an advanced copy of the book in exchange for my honest review. Below is my review, which you can also find on Goodreads .  Dillion and Donovan aka “Van” are both called back to Pearl Lake after years away. For Dillion, it’s a hometown reunion as she returns to help her family after her brother falls into trouble. For Van, it’s a return to the heavenly summers of his childhood as he comes back to his late Grammy’s cottage… right next door to Dillion’s family home. These two clash right from the beginning, but are quick to discover there is more that connects them than they first imagined.  This book starts off as enemies to lovers, although there’s a lot less enemies and a lot more lovers. I enjoyed the banter while it lasted, and the fact that it’s surly Dillion verses a (somewhat) chipper Van almost makes it more fun. The female being the grumpy one is a bit of a flip from norm, and I’m always a fan for some gender-role-re...

The Marriage Game by Sara Desai

I’m in love with the way Sara Desai writes love. Photo by me - from my bookstagram @bookworminkayla Through a series of  unforseen circumstances, Layla Patel and Sam Mehta have to share an office space above the Patel family restaurant.  Layla is just starting her new recruitment consultant business, while Sam is CEO of a corporate downsizing company - in other words, Layla finds jobs and Sam cuts them.  And their differences don't end there.  As Layla and Sam fight over their office space, they continuously clash (in all the best ways).  Additionally, Layla's well-meaning father sets her up on a series of blind dates and they all come right to the office doors, causing more trouble (and opportunities) for Sam.  As these two enemies spend more and more time together, the lines of their game begin to blur and they start to question what it means to win. Riding on mutual attraction from the start, Layla and Sam are very much no...
