Percy Jackson and the Olympians

Percy Jackson and the Olympians by Rick Riordan is one of my favorite series!!  Based on Greek mythology, these books are about a boy who is half mortal, half Greek god.  In the first book, The Lightning Thief, Percy Jackson finds out the truth about his father after being taken to Camp Half-Blood, a safe place for demigods like him.  At the camp, he discovers that his Latin teacher, Mr. Brunner, is the centaur Chiron from the Greek stories he learned about.  The camp director is Dionysus, the god of wine, and his best friend Grover has hooves!!  After having his world turned upside down in addition to his mom disappearing in a golden shower of sparks, Percy is given a quest with Grover and a very experienced camper named Annabeth to retrieve Zeus' master bolt, which Percy supposedly stole.  So he gets a prophecy from a dead skeleton called the Oracle of Apollo, and heads out west towards Las Vegas.  Along the way he and his friends encounter lots of monsters, including Medusa.  And I can't forget the Greek god of war, Ares.  Percy makes an enemy out of Ares almost immediately when Ares asks them to run an errand for him.  When they return, the war god provides them a ride with an albino lion, a gazelle, and a zebra who likes to talk in Percy's head.  The questers free the animals in Las Vegas and spend the night in a five star Vegas hotel called the Lotus Hotel and Casino.  At least it felt like a night.  But despite the delay, the friends continue towards the Underworld to meet Hades, who they suspect has the lightning bolt.  But upon arrival, they discover they were tricked, and Percy finds his mom is still alive.  Leaving his mom with Hades, Percy, Grover and Annabeth go back toward where they came from to meet the brains behind the plan.  But will they bring Zeus his bolt back in time, or will Zeus declare war on Poseidon?
In the second book in this five book series, Percy's friend Grover is trapped on an island somewhere with a Cyclops.  He contacted Percy through his dreams and he keeps telling Percy he found it.  But what is it?  Meanwhile, Percy has more problems to deal with.  Someone has poisoned the big tree that protects Camp Half-Blood!!  The camp is dying, and no one knows how to save it.  Annabeth and Percy sneak away from camp with Percy's half brother, Tyson and go on a secret quest to find Grover, while one of Percy's enemies, Clarisse, a child of Ares, tries to complete a quest to save the camp.  Along the way they join forces and end up in the Sea of Monsters, known to mortals as the Bermuda Triangle.  Percy senses that Grover is somewhere near.  But where?  Then they come upon the island of Polyphemus the Cyclopes Giant.  Grover is on the island trapped inside the giant's cave, and they try to save him when they notice something else.  The Golden Fleece!!  It's magical power could save the camp!  After escaping with Grover and the Fleece, they head back to camp.  But once there, the  Fleece works its magic a little too well.  Find out more by reading the book: The Sea of Monsters by Rick Riordan.
The Titan's Curse by Rick Riordan is the third book in this series.  Percy's friend Grover is out looking for demigods and he sends out a call for help when he finds two very powerful ones.  Percy and his friends Annabeth and Thalia come to his aid, but instead of a clean delivery, they find a monster.  When the monster attacks, they are joined by the Hunters of Artemis, who drive the monster away, but not before he takes Annabeth with him.  Bianca DiAngelo, one of the two demigods, leaves her brother Nico in the care of Percy, Grover and Thalia to become immortal with the rest of the Hunters.  Artemis calls up a ride from her brother Apollo to bring the Hunters and demigods back to camp.  Despite a little mishap, Apollo gets them there safely.  Then Zoe, one of the Hunters, has a dream saying Artemis has been captured.  Zoe insists the Hunters must go after the goddess, but the Oracle says differently.  Two and three must go on the quest, the skeleton prophet of Apollo says.  So it's decided that two campers and three Hunters will go, but last minute one of the Hunters gets sick and Zoe doesn't wish to risk another, so the four set off.  But Percy isn't one of the four and he wants to be.  So he sneaks away secretly on his pegasus Blackjack and follows the van full of questers.  When they stop finally at the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum, Percy sees the monster that attacked Nico and Bianca, and he follows it across the street where someone named the General is planning to kill Thalia who, unlike Percy, was invited to join the quest for Artemis.  Unfortunately, before he can get away one of the skeleton warriors the General created caught Percy's scent, so instead of tracking Thalia they're tracking Percy, which is bad news.  When Percy runs to warn Thalia he finds her battling the Nemean Lion, one of the monsters Hercules fought.  After defeating the lion with space food, Percy is grudgingly admitted to accompany them the rest of the way.  After more trials, including a fight with a mechanical giant in the desert that plays a big part in the prophecy, they finally reach the mountain where Artemis and Annabeth, are being kept.  In fact, Artemis is holding up the sky on that mountain, bearing the Titan Atlas' burden.  During the fight on the mountain, a promise Ares once made Percy comes true, and Percy's sword becomes useless.  Despite that the demigods win the battle except for one tragedy.  Zoe is dying.  Artemis grants her faithful hunter's last wish, and a new constellation appears in the night sky.  And with Annabeth back Percy, Grover and Thalia are satisfied.
This post is super long already, so I'll tell you about the other two books later.  If you want to check it out, there is a website for these books, and links on it for other Rick Riordan books if you've already read Percy Jackson.  www.percyjacksonbooks.com
