Thank you to Social Butterfly PR for sending me an advanced copy of this book to read and review.  Below are my honest thoughts, which can also be found on my Goodreads .  In the third installment of the Digital Dating series, Dalton Cunningham is trying to make a name for himself at the family winery.    In charge of the social media, he has his eyes set on the role of marketing manager. After making a bet with his older brother, Dalton has to get one hundred thousand followers in a month for the position to be his… and he knows just where to start. Raeanne, or Rae for short, is struggling to hold on to her dance students after another studio opens up near her. After seeing one of her TikToks, Dalton tracks her down and pitches her his idea - if they collaborate on TikTok, he can gain followers and her studio can get noticed. It’s the best of both worlds, but they may end up with more than they bargained for.  Like the first two books in the series, this is a light, easy read. The ro

Love Next Door by Helena Hunting

Thank  you to Social Butterfly PR for sending me an advanced copy of the book in exchange for my honest review. Below is my review, which you can also find on Goodreads .  Dillion and Donovan aka “Van” are both called back to Pearl Lake after years away. For Dillion, it’s a hometown reunion as she returns to help her family after her brother falls into trouble. For Van, it’s a return to the heavenly summers of his childhood as he comes back to his late Grammy’s cottage… right next door to Dillion’s family home. These two clash right from the beginning, but are quick to discover there is more that connects them than they first imagined.  This book starts off as enemies to lovers, although there’s a lot less enemies and a lot more lovers. I enjoyed the banter while it lasted, and the fact that it’s surly Dillion verses a (somewhat) chipper Van almost makes it more fun. The female being the grumpy one is a bit of a flip from norm, and I’m always a fan for some gender-role-reversal.  Photo

Thank you to Social Butterfly PR and Stacey Kennedy for sending me an ARC of this book to read and review! Below are my honest opinions, which can also be found on my Goodreads page.  I also featured this book over on Instagram ( @bookworminkayla ). Amelia Carter gets left at the altar right in front of her high school sweetheart Beckett Stone. And thank goodness for that, because Beckett has been waiting years for the chance to get her back. Unfortunately life is not as simple as that. Amelia decides to devote all her time to the family brewery and the six new beers she needs to create. Meanwhile, Beckett’s past has a way of catching up with him.  As he tries to prove himself to Amelia, she has to decide if she is willing to open herself up to love again.   Is their past an obstacle they can overcome? There’s something about a guy who will punch someone in the face for you. *insert heart eyes here*. Honestly, Beckett is the perfect love interest - dealing with a lot but working to m

If the Shoe Fits by Julie Murphy

If the Shoe Fits is a Cinderella retelling featuring Cindy, aspiring shoe designer and college graduate who returns home after the death of her father with nothing specific lined up. She takes over nannying her three younger half-siblings and triplets while her step-mother runs the successful reality TV show Before Midnight.   But when spots on the show need filling, Cindy takes the role along with her two step-sisters, using the publicity to show off her shoes and becoming a body positive role model for the show’s fans.   As the girls compete for love, Cindy is just looking for her big break… but she may find something surprising in the process.   Photo from my bookstagram @bookworminkayla - the cover is photoshopped into this  picture as I did not receive a physical copy of the book To start, I really enjoyed that this retelling takes a lot of the traditional elements and uses them in non-traditional ways. Without spoiling anything, the triplets take the place of Cinderella’s nice an

The Unhoneymooners by Christina Lauren

Olive Torres is historically unlucky. She has a bad luck story for every situation - including the time she was on the news for getting stuck in a claw machine game. Her twin sister Ami, on the other hand, is the luckiest person Olive knows. So when Ami’s whole wedding party -with the exception of Olive and the best man, Ethan Thomas- it seems like the luck may be shifting. Ami offers Olive the honeymoon in Maui because it’s a non-refundable vacation. The only catch is Olive would have to go with her mortal enemy...who is, you guessed it, Ethan. But as they spend this Unhoneymoon together, they might just discover things aren’t as they seem.  Photo from goodreads.com Bonus points for the Minnesota setting - references to Edina and the State Fair had me right at home in the start of this book. And one of my favorite movie quotes from Clue (1985) is included as well. So basically the writing is fantastic on top of the story being fun!  I love Olive and while her luck is truly horrible,

Reviewing Book Box Subscriptions

Image
Did you know that, like with most things these days, books can come as a subscription service?  For today's blog post I'm doing something a little different.  Rather than reviewing a book for you, I'll do a quick review of the four major book box subscriptions that I've tried.  In other words, I bought them so you don't have to!  (Although of course, since I enjoyed most of them, I do recommend you try at least one if you're interested.)  And just a note: this content is not in any way sponsored.  All thoughts are my own honest opinions about the boxes and the items I've received through them. Book Box #1: Book of the Month (BOTM) I started Book of the Month thanks to a gift of a 3-month subscription from my aunt.  The main thing to note with BOTM is that this subscription is only books - in the other three boxes I review, bookish merchandise/items are included. Book of the Month picks out five new books each month for its subscribers.  With your subscripti
