The Lost Hero by Rick Riordan

I have recently discovered that I have not blogged about The Lost Hero yet.  That's crazy!  So, here I am, blogging about it.  Sorry it took so long.

As you may have gathered from previous Heroes of Olympus posts, the main characters in this story are Jason, Leo, and Piper.

Jason doesn't know where he is, what he is, or why all this is happening.  He keeps having weird thoughts and can fluently speak in Latin.  After arriving at Camp Half-Blood, Jason slowly starts to remember who he is, and it's not all good.  Because where he comes from could be a danger to his new friends.

Piper McLean has an amnesiac boyfriend...who might not be her boyfriend, she was just tossed off the edge of the Grand Canyon, and her dad could be in trouble.  A giant keeps coming to her in her dreams and telling her she can save her dad, if she betrays her friends.  Piper has a very important choice to make, and she's running out of time.

Leo Valdez is funny and sarcastic, and did I mention he can't get burned?  When it comes to fire; big nasty bonfires or fire-breathing dragons, Leo has it under control.  But he likes to keep his power a secret, because he doesn't want to be a freak.  Although now that's he's seeing the ghost of his old babysitter, maybe it's impossible for him to be normal.  Leo has an important part to play in the second Great Prophecy, if he's willing to accept that maybe not every bad thing that happens isn't his fault.

Together these three friends go on a quest to save Hera, queen of the gods.  They meet Borealis and a Cyclopes family, run into Aeolus the keeper of the winds, and discover a big secret from Jason's past. But when their deadline collides with the deadline for saving Piper's dad, will the friends go their separate ways?  Will the giant let them?  There could be more than they were expecting from this quest, and sometimes the cost isn't worth it.
