A Quick Review

Hi!  I went to the library recently, and after blogging about a few of my favorite books I got, I decided to do a quick review of the leftovers!  They are still great books of course, just a little different from what I usually read.

Life After Theft by Aprilynne Pike
Kimberlee Schaffer died last year.  According to the gossip around Jeff's new school, Kimberlee was a total mean girl.  Something no one except Jeff knows though, is that Kimberlee was also a kleptomaniac.  How could he know this if he was new to the school?  Kimberlee told him.  That's right.  Kimberlee Schaffer is a ghost, and she thinks it is because of all her unfinished business, a.k.a. the hundreds of boxes full of stuff she stole.  Because Jeff is the only one who can see her, she enlists his help to getting her to the afterlife.  Which means Jeff needs to return everything she stole.  Unfortunately for Jeff, it's harder for him to bring things back than it was for Kimberlee to steal the  in the first place.
This story is well written, and comes with an important lesson.  Four stars!

The Woken Gods by Gwenda Bond
Five years ago, the ancient gods of mythology were awoken.  Now, Kyra Locke lives in a transformed, and dangerous, Washington DC.  She encounters two gods on her way home from school, one offering a warning, the other only wanting to attack.  Luckily, Kyra is saved by several Society agents.  She escapes with agent Osborne Spencer, only to find out that her father stolen a vey important relic.  A very dangerous relic.  Unfortunately, that is not the only surprise Kyra receives that day.
As a mythology nerd, I really enjoyed this book.  Not only were there parts of mythology that I was familiar with, but there was also lots of new bits that were interesting to read.  Mythology combined with a determined teenage girl and her friends equals a great book.  Three stars!
