Confession time: I started this series at the wrong end. This is the first Boys of the Bayou book I’ve read, but it will not be the last. 

Four Weddings and a Swamp Boat Tour picks up the story of Mitch and Paige two weeks after they’ve met. Paige decides she needs to get away from her overbearing family and the five proposals she’s received in her small Iowa hometown. To do so, she ventures down to Louisiana to stay with Mitch, a man with whom she had a weekend fling and then promised to attend their mutual friend’s wedding... which is still three weeks away. And she’s thinking of staying longer. The problem is that Mitch is more than ready to become the sixth proposal she’s received, and Paige has sworn off dating and commitments.

I was so strongly Team Mitch while reading this story. He is fully dedicated and knows what he wants, but more than anything he makes sure to give others what they need, regardless of himself. A truly charming and helpful guy, I was in love with how he sets his boundaries with Paige and struggles to stick to them in order to be what she’s looking for - a roommate and a friend, with no strings attached.  While I do enjoy Paige’s whirlwind of a (non-crazy) cat lady personality, Mitch’s dependability stole the show for me.  That and the way all the characters in the Landry family (and their friends and loved ones) just fit together - all their stories intertwined, their skill sets so diverse to handle all the needs of the group, and their love for each other so clearly on display made this read extra enjoyable for me.
