Pies and Prejudice by Heather Vogel Frederick

A major event is has occurred in the fourth book of the Mother Daughter book club series.  Emma is moving to England!!!  Thankfully, the other members of the book club come up with a way to keep the book club going.  Now Emma and her mother do a video chat once a month with their friends.  This year, since Emma and her mother (and brother and father) are in England, the book club is reading Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen, Mrs. Hawthorne's favorite author.  And while the Hawthorne's are in England for the year, an English family has moved into Emma's house.  The new family has 2 boys, one the girls' age (Simon) and one slightly older (Tristan).  Cassidy and her mother are the first to meet the new family, and Cassidy starts off immediately disliking Tristan, and she's not exactly his favorite person either.  And if that isn't bad enough, as a favor to one of the book club friends, Cassidy is Tristan's figure skating partner!!  Cassidy isn't sure she can figure skate, especially since she's a hockey player.  But since she wants to reserve the ice rink twice a week for a girls hockey program, Cassidy goes along with it.  Then the girls want Emma to come home for break, but they need money to buy and send her a ticket.  So they open a baking business, entitled Pies and Prejudice.  Megan's grandmother, Gigi, volunteers to help, and off they go!  Once they earn enough money to bring Emma home, their job is done.  And as a treat, the whole Hawthorne family is coming with her, compliments of Mr. and Mrs. Hawthorne.  And Simon and Tristan's cousin, Annabelle comes too.  Stinkerbelle, as she is called by the book club girls, lives up to her not-so-nice nickname.  She spoils the pies that Pies and Prejudice made for a special occasion, and Mrs. Chadwick is not happy.  (Read the book for more details!!)  Everyone is glad when Stinkerbelle goes back home.  And to top of the not-so-great events, a dear book club friend passes away.  Pies and Prejudice get to display their skill one more time, catering the good bye party at the ice rink.  The friend leaves her money to the book club, so they can do something big, and Mrs. Hawthorne arranges for the book club to come to England!!  Simon and Tristan and family will be coming also, because the year is almost over!  And the main activity planned... an English ball!!  (Not Cassidy's idea of fun.)  How will the year end?  Will certain opinions change??  READ THE BOOK, READ THE BOOOK, READ THE BOOK!!!!!!  :)
