The Bromantic Comedies by Erin Mallon

Thank you to Erin Mallon and Social Butterfly PR for sending me an advance copy of this audio to review!

This is my first time reviewing audio plays, so this was an interesting format to review!  Below is my honest review, which you can also find on my
Goodreads profile.  I also posted a snippet of this review on my Instagram - I'm @bookworminkayla on there so be sure to check it out!

These audio plays do live up to the title; in The Bromantic Comedies, listeners get guys hanging out, chatting, making fun of each other, or getting into some deep topics, and each chapter is both bromantic and comedic! In addition, it hits the “masculine” nail in the head. Lots of profanity, jokes about genitalia, and innuendos - exactly how I imagine entirely male conversations to go. The narrators are fantastic, pulling off funny and serious in varying stories. I think my favorite is Baby Fight Club. When they listed off the reasons for the fight club, I laughed out loud. The close examinations of baby motives from the perspective of a father - hilarious!

I have to admit, the format made this audio a little hard for me to track. Each chapter is an audio play, so it’s primarily dialogue and I found it hard to visualize what is going on in some of the stories. However, I did adjust after the first chapter or two and really relaxed into the narration.

With these plays, I love how things switch up and get explained in closer detail with a bit of a message just when things are seeming a bit ridiculous. While some of the chapters are enjoyable short stories, I really enjoy how some of them dig deep into masculinity and masculine expectations; there’s more going on here than just fun stories. These audio plays range from strange to informative to introspective and they’re funny all throughout!

The Bromantic Comedies, an all-new compilation of laugh-out-loud audio plays from Erin Mallon and featuring your favorite narrators is available now!

A paintball battleground. A wrestling mat for sleep-deprived new daddies. A feminine product aisle in the local drugstore. These are some of the places where men connect... at least in The Bromantic Comedies.

A compilation of humorous and heartfelt plays exploring what it means to be "masculine" in a world where men are supposed to be tough.
