The Gilmore Girls

There are many book blogs out in the wild nerd yonder, and most of them, such as Modern Mrs. Darcy, do annual reading challenges.  (If you're interested, the Modern Mrs. Darcy reading challenge for 2018 is here.)  Sometimes, like for MMD, the list is categories or types of books, such as a book from a favorite author or a book from the banned books list.  Other times, there are actual titles, like you can see on the visual reading challenge listed here that I posted about.

I'm sure many of you are aware of the popular TV show, Gilmore Girls, especially since it's triumphant return recently for Netflix's A Year in the Life.  The mother and daughter duo, both named Lorelei Gilmore, are quirky and adorable while also dealing with life's ups and downs in their small town of Stars Hollow and the larger world of college and careers.  The younger Lorelei, known to all as Rory, is a model student and, like myself, an avid reader.

Maybe you already see where this is going.  These two topics - reading challenges and Gilmore Girls - collide in The Rory Gilmore Reading Challenge.  Buzzfeed is just one of many places that lists all the books Rory Gilmore mentions or is seen reading throughout the entire TV series.  The challenge is to read every single book on the list.  It's a daunting list, but this blog here offers a free checklist to keep track of your progress.

Even without reading all 339 books on the Rory Gilmore reading list, tackling any amount is a good accomplishment.  One suggestion is to read one per month, therefore crossing off 12 in a year.  At that rate, within 28 and one-quarter years you'll be as well read as Rory.  Better get started!

Happy reading everyone!  Let me know if you make any progress on the reading challenge, and I'll keep you updated as well!
~Kayla
