2017 in Review...

Once again we've reached the end of the year and once again I've been awful at blogging.  Overall, this makes for my third blog post in 2017, and it's essentially the same as my first blog post of the year.  To quote Harry Potter...

As always, I have a plan for my blogging this year, and at the moment I'm feeling pretty confident that 2018 will finally be the year my blogging plans work.  I have scheduled blogging into my calendar every other week.  So I'll be back, posting again on Jan. 10th, and will continue to post consistently throughout the year.  Some months may drop to only one post a month, but I will be posting every month.  I'm also blogging on https://howtocollege604.wordpress.com and will be posting there on the weeks I have not blogged here.  And don't forget to check out BookWormin' on Pinterest and follow my new blog account on Instagram at blogstagram18.

We've established that I've blogged now a grand total of three time throughout the year.  However, I have kept up on my BookWormin' activities in other ways.  BookWormin's Pinterest has been up for about a year and a half and I have added many more boards and pins to the collection.  If you have a specific topic you'd like to see more of, comment below!  I also have kept up with my avid reading habit.

 In 2017, I read a total of 156 books!!

  • Out of all those books, I re-read 5 of them, meaning 5 were books I had read earlier in the year and then came back to.
  • 13 of the books were in e-book format, meaning I read them using my Kindle or the Kindle app.
  • I managed to restrain myself and I only read the original Percy Jackson series by Rick Riordan once.
  • Nora Roberts, Susan Andersen, Susan Mallery, and Rick Riordan were the most popular authors this year, as I read quite a few of each of their books.
  • My favorite book of the year is probably Truthwitch by Susan Dennard, which I first read in March and just recently read again.  I'll be blogging about this book in the weeks to come, so keep an eye out!

 Thank you to Social Butterfly PR and Erin Hawkins for sending me an e-ARC of this book to read and review!  As always, this review is my honest opinion and can be found on my Goodreads profile as well as this blog. This story is great and the chemistry between Barrett and Chloe is a delight!  Enemies-to-lovers and fake dating are always a great combination of tropes and Erin Hawkins writes them very well. Even when we as readers have an inkling or two of how this is going to turn out in the end (it is a romance, after all), it feels fresh and exciting as we get to know the characters, their motivations, and the personalities that make them click so well.   I am a big character-driven reader and I really enjoyed reading both Chloe and Barrett's perspectives.  These character have dimensions that lend more  to  the story than just the romance, while also being delightfully attracted to each other and keeping the romance part of the book  adequately  spiced. Okay, so I'm new to this whole blogging thing so I'm going to start by saying I LOVE READING!!  I'll read just about anything!  On my blog I'm going to recommend books and let you know what books I've been reading and if I liked or disliked them and stuff like that, and you can comment and recommend good books to me, because I'm always looking for new reading material.  Sound good?

Bravely by Maggie Stiefvater

Disney, bold & brave, magical 5 stars As a huge fan of Maggie Stiefvater’s, I was to excited to receive an ARC of Bravely from Disney Books on NetGalley. After reading it I can confidently say I cannot imagine another author who would have done justice to the continuation of Merida’s story.   “Red hair, keen eyes, quick brain, built to start fires but not to put them out.” - Prologue, p. xiii Stiefvater writes in such a way that magic is an intrinsic part of every story, even when it is not fully present.  The imagery is vivid, the emotions are strong, the plot is easy to follow yet hard to predict. As Merida makes a bet with gods of old and takes on the challenge of changing her family before destruction comes for DunBroch, readers get sucked into a story about family and nature, growth and magic.  This story is also an amazing continuation of the Disney/Pixar film Brave.
